What is considered shielding?
Soccer or Association Football shielding is an essential dribbling technique, where the player in possession has to position themselves between the ball and their opponent. This means that the player is defensively protecting the ball and preventing the opponent to get the ball from them. To keep the ball in the player’s possession for a long time, they have to turn their body sideways with their knees bending slightly.

Shielding can be done only within the distance and without any hands involved. On the other hand, this could only become impeding if it’s played beyond the playing distance. The player has to be quick in pushing and pulling the ball from the opponent.
