Who wore number 21 in volleyball?

Athletes in every team sport have a number on their jersey to identify them. In professional volleyball, players are given numbers between 1 and 20. Sometimes, players get to choose their own number and other times, they’re just assigned a number by the team.

Christiane Fürst

Christiane Fürst is a retired German female volleyball player. She is known for playing with Turkish side Eczacıbaşı VitrA.

She won a bronze medal at the 2003 Women’s European Volleyball Championship.

Fürst was named Best Blocker at the 2006 and 2010 World Championships. She won the 2007-08 CEV Cup with the Italian team Scavolini Pesaro, and was named “Best Spiker”. She won the bronze medal at the 2010–11 CEV Champions League with Fenerbahçe Acıbadem. As part of the Vakıfbank Spor Kulübü, she won CEV Women’s Champions League in 2012–2013 season.

At the 2013 European Championship, she took the silver medal with her National Team.

Fürst won the gold medal at the 2013 Club World Championship and the Best Middle Blocker award, playing with Vakıfbank Istanbul.

Brett James Walsh

Brett James Walsh is a Canadian male volleyball player. He was a member of the Canada men’s national volleyball team at the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League. He played U Sports volleyball for the Alberta Golden Bears where he won National Championships in 2014 and 2015 and was named the CIS Men’s Volleyball Player of the Year in 2016.

Morteza Sharifi

Morteza Sharifi is an Iranian volleyball player known as an outside spiker for the Iranian national team and Iranian club Shahrdari Urmia.

Sharifi in 2018 year invited to Iran senior national team by Igor Kolaković and made his debut match against France in the 2018 Nations League.

Akihiro Fukatsu

Akihiro Fukatsu is a Japanese male volleyball player. He was part of the Japan men’s national volleyball team. On club level, he chose to play for Osaka Blazers Sakai.

Tomasz Fornal

Tomasz Fornal is a Polish volleyball player, known as a member of the Poland men’s national volleyball team, Polish Champion (2021). At the professional club level, he chose to play for Jastrzębski Węgiel.

On 12 April 2015, the Polish national team, including Fornal, won a title of the U19 European Champions. They beat Italy in the final (3–1). He took part in the 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival, and on 1 August 2015 achieved a gold medal after the final match with Bulgaria (3–0). On 23 August 2015, Poland achieved its first title of the U19 World Champions. In the final his team beat hosts – Argentina (3–2).

On 10 September 2016, he achieved a title of the U20 European Champion after winning 7 out of 7 matches at the tournament, and beating Ukraine in the final (3–1). On 2 July 2017, Poland, including Fornal, achieved a title of the U21 World Champions after beating Cuba in the final (3–0). His national team won 47 matches in the row.

Dustin Watten

Dustin Joseph Watten is an American volleyball player, known as a member of the United States men’s national volleyball team, gold medalist at the 2015 World Cup. At the professional club level, he chose to play for LUK Lublin.

Mariana Costa

Mariana Andrade Costa, also known as Mari Paraíba is a Brazilian female volleyball player. She is known as part of the Brazil women’s national volleyball team. On club level she played for Osasco Voleibol Clube (2001–06), EC Pinheiros (2006-07) and Minas Tênis Clube (2011–12, 2015–16). She then chose to play for Olympiakos CFP.

Heidy Rodríguez

Heidy Margarita Rodríguez López is a Cuban female volleyball player. She is known as part of the Cuba women’s national volleyball team. On club level she played for Villa Clara in 2014.

Jineiry Martínez

Jineiry Martínez is a Dominican volleyball player who played the 2015 FIVB World Cup with the Dominican Republic national team. She won the bronze medal in the 2015 Pan American Games. With her underage national teams, she won the gold medal in the 2015 FIVB U20 World Championship, silver in the 2013 FIVB U23 World Championship and bronze in the 2015 FIVB U23 World Championship.

In club competitions, she played the 2015 FIVB Club World Championship with the Dominican club Mirador and the 2015–16 CEV Champions League with the French Rocheville Le Cannet.

Chiara De Bortoli

Chiara De Bortoli is an Italian volleyball player. She is known for playing with the Italy women’s national volleyball team.

Chiara De Bortoli’s career began in the 2012–13 season when she joined the AGS Volley San Donà, in the B1 league, a club which she remained tied for three seasons; during this period she was part of the Italian youth teams. She won a bronze medal at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship.

In the 2015–16 season, De Bortoli played for Conegliano’s Imoco Volley. In the 2016, she became part of the Italy national team. She participated in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.

Ai Kurogo

Ai Kurogo is a Japanese volleyball player. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Women’s volleyball.

She is known as part of the Japan women’s national volleyball team. Kurogo participated at the 2017 FIVB U20 Women’s Volleyball World Championship, 2018 Asian Games, and the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League.

Dagmar Boom

Dagmar Boom is a Dutch volleyball player, who plays as a receiver/libero. She is known as a member of the Women’s National Team. She chose to play for Talent Team Papendal.

She participated in the 2017 Montreux Volley Masters, and 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.

Pilar Marie Victoria

Pilar Marie Victoriá López is a Puerto Rican volleyball player known for playing with the Beziers Angels of the Serie A1. She played college volleyball for the Texas Longhorns and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

She has competed for the Puerto Rico women’s national volleyball team as well as the Puerto Rico Youth National Team and the Puerto Rico Junior National Team. In 2010, she won the bronze medal while competing with the Puerto Rico Youth National Team at the 2010 NORCECA Youth Championship in Guatemala. She has named it as one of her most memorable achievements. In 2015, she became one of the preeminent offensive players in the nation as an outside hitter for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

She participated in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, and the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.

Anna Kotikova

Anna Mikhailovna Kotikova is a Russian volleyball player known as an outside hitter for the Russian club Dinamo Kazan and the Russian women’s national volleyball team. She won gold medal at the 2016 Women’s U19 Volleyball European Championship and silver medal at the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship with the youth teams of Russia while being selected as the “most valuable player” at the former. In both tournaments, she played in the opposite position and was named the “best opposite spiker” of the tournament. She won the Russian Cup with her club in 2017.

Aslihan Kiliç

Aslıhan Kılıç is a Turkish volleyball player known for playing with Aydın Büyükşehir Belediyespor and the Turkish national team.

She participated at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League. She chose to play for Aydın Büyükşehir Belediyespor.

Barthélémy Chinenyeze

Barthélémy Chinenyeze is a French volleyball player, known as a member of the France men’s national volleyball team and Italian club Powervolley Milano.

He joined the French national team in 2017 and participated at the 2017 European Championship and the 2017 World Grand Champions Cup. He was a gold medalist of 2017 World League. On March 2, 2018 he went to Polish club Asseco Resovia Rzeszów because of injury of Bartłomiej Lemański.

Kunihiro Shimizu

Kunihiro Shimizu is a Japanese volleyball player known for playing with Panasonic Panthers. He announced retirement from the national team after finishing the 7th place in 2020 Summer Olympics. Shimizu was crowned the Most Valuable Player in Asian Championship 2015.
