Hang Cheng

Hang cheng is the original term preceding the modern asian handicap, which is actually quite new. This method was traditionally used by Asian bookmakers and was known exactly as “hang cheng”.

In 1998, journalist Joe Smith received an assignment from the Indonesian bookmaker Joe Fang to translate the term “hang cheng” to English and Smith proposed a new term – Asian handicap.
