PK (Penalty Kick)
“PK” stands for “Penalty Kick” in football and refers to a direct free-kick taken from the penalty spot following a penalty foul committed by a defending player inside their own penalty area. Penalty kicks are awarded to the attacking team as a direct goal-scoring opportunity. During a penalty kick, the ball is placed on the penalty spot, situated 12 yards (approximately 11 meters) from the goal line. The attacking player takes a shot on goal with only the goalkeeper standing between them and the net. Penalty kicks are considered high-pressure situations, and their successful conversion can significantly influence the outcome of a match. Penalty kick takers aim to place the ball into the net past the goalkeeper, while goalkeepers try to anticipate the direction of the shot and make a save.
