Celly
What is a celly in hockey?
How to understand the hockey term celly?
What is the meaning of a celly?
Celly is a celebration after a goal that is more than just raising your arms. Short for “celebration” often used in the sports world after scoring a sick goal, having a filthy dangle or in the normal world, after scoring with a hot babe. A celly is not a party; rather it is a brief expression of joy, such as a fist pump.
Fist pumps, jumping against the boards, riding the stick and down-on-one-knee are popular cellys. When overdone, a celly can become a target for trash talk. Some classics are Tiger Williams riding his stick like a horse and Alexander Ovechkin dropping his “hot” stick and warming his hands from the fire.
Example: Did you see that bender’s celly, you’d think that was his first goal ever.
